Sony Xperia 5 II Features And Price

Sony revealed a new Xperia family member called Xperia 5 II. The Xperia 5 is a much more compact version of the Xperia 1 II that was previously released in 2020, following the trend of the 2019 launches.

This brings appeal because it is slightly smaller, but it does not lose power, sticking very much to the Xperia Compact device trend for which Sony was once popular.

Sony Xperia 5 II price

On 17 September Sony unveiled the Xperia 5 II via an online event. It is not expected that the new smartphone will be available until the middle of October, but the exact prices and dates for different regions are still to be verified.

The Xperia 5 costs $799 in the US and £699 in the UK in terms of price, but the new model is now a little more expensive considering the switch to 5G. In the UK, it will cost £ 799 and in Europe it will cost €899.

In its curves, the Sony Xperia 5 II gets slightly softer than the previous iteration of this handset, but packs itself into a very slim frame. As you’d expect from Sony Phones, it offers IP65/68 waterproofing, with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on the front and back.

The right-hand side of the phone has a series of buttons, including a dedicated shutter button and a Google Assistant button, along with the volume and fingerprint scanner. Sony has opted not to sell a camera with a punch hole, instead sticking to the top and bottom of the monitor bezels.

There’s a 3.5mm headphone socket and dual stereo speakers, supporting Dolby Atmos and 360 Reality Audio. The looks overall reflect those of the Xperia 1 II – this is very much a compact version of that device.

With a Full HD+ resolution, the Xperia 5 II gets a 6.1-inch display. But the handset is fitted with a 120Hz display to cater to gamers. Additionally, Sony provides a motion blur reduction feature that will take it up to 240Hz, with the intention of making it sharper and smoother. That’s combined for super-speed responses with a 240Hz touch sampling screen.

The panel adheres to the chosen 21:9 aspect ratio of Sony and is an OLED panel powered by the X1 Mobile motor, designed to make it look amazing. It does support HDR as well.

Specs and hardware

The Sony Xperia 5 II runs on Qualcomm 865 5G. This is said to be backed by 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, along with microSD storage expansion support, but Sony has yet to confirm these specifications.

The battery capacity is 4000mAh, and the fast charging 21W PD is on board as well. There is no wireles charging, because instead of keeping it cold, Sony chose to use a graphene heat dissipation pad in the back of the handset.
